Comedian and Master of None star Aziz Ansari recently decided to “unplug,” removing all social media apps, email, and even the internet browser from his phone. “Whenever you check for a new post on Instagram or whenever you go on The New York Times to see if there's a new thing, it's not even about the content. It's just about seeing a new thing. You get addicted to that feeling,” he explained in the cover story for the fall issue of GQ Style. “I wanted to stop that thing where I get home and look at websites for an hour and a half, checking to see if there's a new thing.”

Last week, the Television Critics Association (TCA) announced their nominees for its annual awards ceremony. “As professional consumers of the medium, TV critics are often the first to spot exemplary work in television,” the TCA says of the awards. Interestingly, it seems much of the exemplary work the critics recognized for the 2016-2017 season didn’t appear on traditional television at all.

There are more grandparents in the United States than ever before, and I want to be one of them.

And for you Millennials who have stopped responding to your parents’ texts on the topic, you cannot escape: the number of American grandparents is up 24% since the turn of the century, rising from 56.1 million in 2001 to 69.5 million as of 2014. Back in 2001, 38% of women over 45 with children were grandparents, as were 31% of men. Those figures are now 61% and 57%, respectively.
